Workflow platform scope
Joget DX is an open-source no-code and low-code platform for building, automating and deploying enterprise applications. Current official material covers forms, lists, user interfaces, process and workflow automation, reports, APIs, integrations and mobile-enabled applications. Buyers should distinguish the platform from a single ready-made workflow product and define the applications, editions, plugins and hosting model included in the evaluation.
Evaluation scenario
Build a representative approval application with an intake form, data list, two-stage workflow, conditional route, service task, deadline and mobile task view. Submit a normal request, reject one item, reassign an overdue task and trigger an integration failure. Ask business users, developers and administrators to trace the process state, data changes, notifications and audit history without relying on information outside the platform.
Application and process design
Use the Form, List, UI and Process Builders to reproduce the chosen workflow. Evaluate how permissions, participants, activities, forms, tools, deadlines, escalations and sub-processes are represented. Confirm which changes require scripting or a custom plugin and who can review them. AI-assisted generation should be treated as a draft: validate every generated field, rule, permission and integration before deployment.
Data, APIs and integration
Define the application data model, stable identifiers and ownership for connected records. Test built-in JSON or JavaScript APIs and one realistic external connection, including authentication, retry, duplicate events and reconciliation. Review marketplace dependencies and version compatibility. The team should know how an integration failure is surfaced and how a corrected transaction is replayed without duplicating workflow activity.
Operations and governance
Test designer, administrator, participant and read-only roles with realistic restrictions. Review audit trails, application logs, version control, import and export, Git integration and deployment procedures for the selected edition. Use process monitoring to identify stalled work and compare reported totals with individual instances. Record the ownership and update policy for every installed app, template and plugin.
Mobile and user experience
Check a real task queue, form, attachment and approval on the supported mobile route. Verify permissions, offline expectations, notifications and the behaviour of long forms or complex lists on a narrow screen. Mobile access should expose only the actions needed by the role and preserve the same audit and validation rules as the desktop application.
Rollout checkpoint
Start with one bounded process whose current owners, exceptions and service levels are known. Retain the tested app package, role matrix, integration map, deployment record and recovery steps. Expand only when users can complete work without a parallel inbox or spreadsheet, administrators can explain every permission and rule, and the team can diagnose failed workflow or integration events from the recorded evidence.
