What we do

How we remain independent
A place in an independent comparison or editorial conclusion cannot be bought. Paid placements, sponsored research, vendor case studies and other commercial materials are labelled clearly. A sponsor may support the work, but does not determine our methodology, ratings or conclusions.
We separate vendor-provided information from editorial assessment. When we cannot confirm a material fact, we say so and record when it was last checked.
For software vendors
Vendors can add or update a listing and request correction of factual errors at no charge. If a vendor chooses a paid format, such as a clearly marked sponsored article or placement, it is handled separately from editorial research. Demonstration videos are considered only when the vendor has supplied them and we can verify that they match the relevant product.
Our approach
We aim to cite substantial claims, date-check information that changes often and explain the limits of each comparison. The catalogue and research are works in progress: product information changes, and we update pages as better evidence becomes available.
