GanttPRO
Details
Gantt-based planning scope
GanttPRO provides a visual timeline for creating tasks, milestones, dependencies and assignments. Project managers can structure work, set dates and durations, allocate resources, track progress and compare the plan with execution. Collaboration and reporting features support team updates, while templates can shorten setup for repeatable project types.
Evaluation scenario
Import or recreate a representative project with at least twenty tasks, several dependencies, two milestones and shared resources. Move one critical task and inspect the effect on successor dates and workload. Ask contributors to update status and log time from their normal devices, then produce the weekly view used by a sponsor or client.
Schedule quality
Test dependency types, lag, constraints, calendars and critical-path behaviour against a known schedule. Confirm how baselines and progress are represented and how accidental date changes are detected. A polished chart is not enough: the team should be able to explain why a forecast moved and which assumption caused it.
Resources and collaboration
Assign people or other resources with realistic availability and inspect over-allocation. Review comments, attachments, notifications and access for an external participant. Decide whether contributors update GanttPRO directly or through another task system, and define which application owns dates, effort and completion status. Repeat the exercise with a temporary contributor and verify that removed access does not leave responsibility or confidential attachments unclear.
Reporting and integration
Check exports and reports used in governance meetings, including whether labels, dates and status remain readable outside the application. If API access or integrations are required, validate the current documented capability and plan restrictions with the vendor. Test one round trip rather than assuming that a listed connection preserves dependencies and resource data. Record the supported import and export formats, ownership of each interface and the recovery procedure for a failed synchronisation.
Decision checkpoint
Measure planning time, schedule-change accuracy, resource visibility, update completion and reporting effort. Confirm current packaging, collaboration limits and supported integration paths directly with GanttPRO. Proceed only when the schedule survives realistic changes, contributors can update work without specialist training and stakeholders receive a clear explanation of progress, risk and the next milestone.
